Questions, answered.

Missouri's refund rules in plain language. Something not covered here? Ask us.

What is Form 4923-H?

Form 4923-H is Missouri's motor fuel tax refund form used to claim eligible refunds for qualifying fuel purchases. Missouri drivers can submit it annually to recover taxes paid on eligible usage.

What information do I need from each receipt?

You need the purchase date, gallons purchased, seller name, seller address, and the vehicle the fuel was used in. FuelBack MO extracts most of this automatically from a photo.

Does FuelBack MO file with the state for me?

No. FuelBack MO generates a completed Form 4923-H and the prewritten email you need to send to Missouri. You can attach the generated PDF to that email and send it, or print the completed form and mail it in.

How does claim-year access work?

FuelBack MO is sold by claim year, not by calendar year. Each purchase covers one Missouri claim year and lets you upload eligible receipts for that cycle through that year's September 30 filing deadline. Your account stays available after that for viewing your records and preparing future claim years.

What if I sign up in the middle of the year?

You still get full access for the active Missouri claim year and can add any eligible receipts from that cycle through the filing deadline. After that deadline, you keep your account, but new receipts for that claim year can no longer be added.

Do I still need to verify my receipt data?

Yes. FuelBack MO helps you organize and estimate, but you are responsible for checking receipt details and filing accuracy before you submit.

Do I need to track mileage or keep receipts after I file?

Missouri's fuel refund FAQ focuses on keeping the required purchase records and retaining original receipts or invoices for 3 years after filing. FuelBack MO's mileage calculator is only an estimate tool and does not replace your receipt records. FuelBack MO may delete claim-year records and stored receipt images 3.5 years after that claim year's filing deadline.

When should I start using FuelBack MO?

As early as possible in the claim year. The easiest way to use FuelBack MO is to snap receipts as you buy fuel, let the app organize everything during the year, and then export your completed packet when filing opens.

Is this tax or legal advice?

No. FuelBack MO is a recordkeeping and filing-preparation tool, not tax or legal advice. Always verify your filing details independently.
